The Students

Learning Bug really makes you think outside of the box.”

“It has become quite competitive, with everyone trying to get better answers than everyone else to the questions.”

“It is an excellent learning tool and fun too – am I allowed to say it is fun?”

“It frees me up to think.”

“It’s a good way of making your teachers realise that you want to work in different ways and that we are intelligent in different ways.”

“It feels like you’re playing, so I’m amazed how hard we work during a Learning Bug session!”

“I love it when we play in a team with older students – I think they get quite a surprise when they see how hot our thinking is!”

When asked by a visitor what Ed Balls should be told about the Learning Bug game, one student responded, “Tell him to get it”  When the visitor asked if there was anything else he wanted to add, the student responded, “Tell him to get it now!”

“It’s the first time I’ve ever won anything!”

The Teachers

“Is that all the preparation I have to do for a cover lesson?”

“I keep looking for the catch, but I can’t seem to find one…the game hits so many learning buttons, and I’m not actually teaching!”

“The best part for me is using the resources back in the classroom.  I tried this game with a Year 11 group suffering from ‘exam block’ and low confidence.  After eightway thinking an exam topic on ‘Stone Cold’, back in the classroom, the students suddenly felt confident about approaching a standard GCSE question from a different angle.”

“I’m amazed how quickly the students engage with the game – it would take much longer in a standard classroom situation to get their brains warmed up – and they stay engaged throughout the session.”

“I’m impressed with the way in which the formative assessment application allows students to assess what they have actually learnt – the quality of the questions and answers and not the quantity.”

“Great to see students actually questioning the questions!”
