Cover Bug

Learning Bug started as a request for an application that could be used instead of paying for a supply teacher to come in and wreak havoc when a teacher was away.

Because of this, the whole process has been designed with ‘teacherless learning’ in mind.

If the teacher knows they are going to be away, rather than writing up countless cover lessons, Sellotaping them to the desk, digging out the resources and then praying that the room won’t be too much a mess when they get back, all they have to do is to identify the topic they want the class to cover and tell Learning Bug.

That’s it.

Planning a lesson could just come down to one word!

And if the teacher is away without warning, due to illness for example, rather than a head of department starting the day running around digging out suitable resources or photocopying 100 worksheets that they hope the more able learners won’t finish too quickly, they can just choose the topic for the Bug.

And when the teacher comes back, by accessing Learning Bug’s stored files, they can see exactly what was done during the sessions and use the questions and answers as powerful learning resources for subsequent lessons.

3 Cover Modes

Learning Bug provides three types of cover support lesson...

1. A classic Learning Bug session.

2. A learning portal: a list of online resources for the lesson.

3. A way of accessing "traditional" cover lesson materials.

Cover Costs!

Did you know that £2,571,013,084 was spent on supply teachers in England during 2002 to 2005?  That doesn't include nursery schools nor does it include money that came straight from LEAs.

In other words, it is money spent by schools like yours on what is in most cases a babysitting service.  To find out how much is spent in your area, click the link below...
